Here is an excerpt from my latest endeavor- unedited. Please tell me what you think and if you'd read on....
Here’s a brief description of my first date with my ideal man. He rang my doorbell at 7 o’clock as planned. He was dressed in a great camel cashmere sweater and a navy jacket and slacks. He looked yummy. He even brought me some small posies. I guess he didn’t want to be audacious at first. He told me how beautiful I looked and naturally I thanked him for the compliment.
I bid goodnight to Gina, who was dressed to the nines to go out on the town. We proceeded in a cab to this supposedly special and secretive destination. I was hoping it wasn’t a French restaurant with all that disgusting goo and creatures I couldn’t possibly eat. I never asked him what he preferred, but I once saw him ordering Chinese. Now that was okay because you can pick out the out you don’t like probably without anyone noticing it with those heaps of food they gave you.
Finally, the cab came to a halt. Trevor helped me out and when I turned around and found myself in Blahniks at a pizza place! I gulped and hid being mortified. I thought maybe, just, maybe there was another eatery nearby, but no.
………………………………………………………………………..
“Egypt, I found out through Myrtle that pizza is one of your very favorite foods. She said you order enough to run a place out of our office,” he said quite gleefully. I thought this would be a wonderful start. I understand they have a few other delights too. I hope so much you are not disappointed,” as he looked at me with a serious expression.
Hell, at least it was a sit down place, and yes, I loved pizza I thought.
“Oh, no, Trevor, in fact, I think it’s very sweet of you.” (sure like eating brussel sprouts while everyone else has turkey and I’m all dressed up for it.).

Well...

I place another excerpt from my current book project. I hope, at the least, it entertains.

I tend to be rather think-skinned. So if you would rebuke me or my work, feel free to do so.

Be well,
William

I'd like to see stories come up here, so we can all pick on you! (just kidding) So we can help each of us hone our skills, and help the writer be even better, if need be...

It behooves us to read Lea's blog first, about "No! I won't do that!" It's a good discussion on the purpose of critique groups, about which this is, generally.

Anyone care to comment on this?
