I was wondering if most of you use software, or if you write from the seat of your pants kind of thing. I haven't had proffessional training in playwriting, but I'm very interested in learning mor...

For screenplays, I use 'First Draft.' For plays I have not used anything but my pants seat!! :) Of course, I'm no expert so anyone please, chime in...

The difference between them is that in screenwriting, and using the softward, it is more precise about movement from a 'camera' perspective, whereas, playwriting explains a lot more how the person walks on stage, where people are situated, why they look as they do (he is showing dispondency, so he looks down as she rounds him and then touches his shoulder....etc.)

Somehow, playwriting seems more personal, but screenwriting seems more a 'showing' the camera where to park; telling whether its inside, outside, day or night, close-up, far-out, etc.

My favorite is:
The Red Jacket
It's a specail story I wrote in the middle of the night, when my daughter had cancer. It's very close to our hearts.
